In my practice, I have seen multiple patients whose acne flared badly after getting on a progestin only hormonal IUD. Of course, for each person, this is a personal choice. I have also had patients who didn’t have acne to begin with who did not have acne after their hormonal IUD implant either. It really depends on the patient.
