REMSEN, N.Y. -- Erin Hamlin-Hodge is stepping into a new role as a luge analyst for NBC’s coverage of the Winter Olympics. Hamlin-Hodge, who is a 2014 bronze medalist and the only female on Team USA to medal in singles luge, will begin her analyst duties in Italy. She left the sport in 2018 but has remained closely connected to luge.

Luge made its Olympic debut in 1964, where athletes race feet first on a sled at speeds exceeding 80 miles per hour. Competitors complete four runs over two days and their cumulative times determine their rankings, with gold awarded for the lowest total time.
