On August 2, 2027, a total solar eclipse will bring six minutes and 23 seconds of midday darkness, the century’s longest over land. Astronomers describe the total solar eclipse 2027 as unusually long because the Sun will be farthest from Earth and the Moon near perigee.

After the lunar observation period concluded, the Artemis II crew was congratulated by President Donald Trump, in a live conversation that aired as part of NASA’s continuing live coverage of the mission. They also spoke with NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman and answered questions from social media.

The NASA moon mission completed several key milestones as its crew looped around the lunar body. It's expected to splash down on Earth on Friday.
